The history of Christianity in India stretches all the way back to 100 AD, or earlier. St. Thomas (I think), one of the 12 apostles set out from the Holy Land to bring Christianity to India. This cross was made in brass by craftsmen in India and shows a distinctly Asian interpretation of an age-old theme.

I bought this item at the going-out-of-business auction of a variety store in Brooklyn, NY in April 2000.
This statuette is in excellent condition -- the cross has many small, very faint dots, like water marks.
