The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill early in 1848 brought more than 40,000 prospectors to California within two years. Although few of them struck it rich, their presence was an important stimulus to economic growth.

Comstock was established 18 years ago. In 1984, the company was moved to Durango, Colorado where it quickly began to grow and expand it's product line. By 1989, Comstock Creations had been listed in INC 500's list of the fastest growing private companies for two years. The early 90's found a big market in fantasy-oriented products and Comstock was right on top of this market.
