This brass statuette manages to convey much of the power and majesty of the bull elephant. His mouth is open wide, his tusks jutting, his mighty trunk is writhing and his ears are open wide. I've seen this scene dozens of times on nature shows, just before the elephant charges.

This piece was made by Sarsaparilla Design, a metal foundry in West New York, NJ, that recently went out of business after over 50 years of production. I was able to acquire some of their older work, including this piece.
