In the 1930’s, Betty Boop a cartoon character with timeless appeal was designed by Fleischer studio and animator Grim Natwick. Her first appearance was as a singer, August 8, 1930, in "Dizzy Dishes”." Betty Boop was literally a dog, singing to Bimbo, another pooch. Betty Boop's first appearance as a human female was in "Kitty from Kansas City" in 1931. There have been several futile attempts made to colorize old Betty Boop cartoons. However, with the advent of video in the 1980's, the popularity of Betty Boop took off. Betty was in retirement until 1988, where she returned to the big screen in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" She was the only cartoon in black and white.
